What it is

A living 16-bit dungeon run, on your desktop

Dungeon Dash is a hand-built pixel-art dungeon live wallpaper that runs as a true animated wallpaper behind your icons. In attract mode it charges your hero through the castle gate and down into six scored stages, the art moving to the music. Press Ctrl+Alt+P and it becomes a playable arcade run — dash, leap and swing your sword through traps, soldiers and the beast below. It's far more than a static fantasy wallpaper or a looping video: it's a retro RPG/fantasy live wallpaper you can actually play.

Six stages

Where the dungeon run takes you

Stage 1

The Castle Gate

Storm the wall under a dusk sky as the archers loose their arrows to open the run.

Stage 2

The Castle of Darkness

Fight your way up the great stair through cold stone halls and torn banners.

Stage 3

The Ramparts

Cross the wall under siege as crossbow bolts, gargoyles and rolling boulders fly.

Stage 4

The Hall of Doors

Take the one true path through a violet hall of a hundred doors and loot.

Stage 5

The Catacombs

Push through the green-lit crypts where the dead do not sleep and bats swarm.

Stage 6

The Dungeon Depths

Free her and fell the beast in the red-hot depths — the finale of the run.

Questions

Good to know

Is Dungeon Dash a live wallpaper or a game?
Both. It runs as an animated live wallpaper behind your desktop icons, storming through its six dungeon stages on its own. Press Ctrl+Alt+P and it becomes a playable arcade dungeon run; press again to hand it back to the demo.
Which versions of Windows does it support?
Dungeon Dash runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11 through the free SamuelWize Wallpapers app, with multi-monitor support so it can run on one screen while another shows a different pack.
How much does it cost?
A one-time £2.99 through Lemon Squeezy. You get a license key by email that unlocks the pack on up to 5 devices — no subscription, no expiry.
Will it slow down my PC?
It's frame-capped to stay light on the GPU and automatically pauses when you open a fullscreen app or game, so it never competes with what you're actually doing.
